National Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) Week

This annual observance allows us to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the remarkable work carried out by our dedicated team at PSAS, the National Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service. This year’s National PSAS Week theme, “Embracing the Future: The Power of Prosthetics," recognizes PSAS is constantly evolving to accommodate healthcare modernization and this theme celebrates innovation and unrelenting resolve to improve Veteran's lives through new technologies as well as changes and improvements in healthcare delivery

The Prosthetic and Sensory Aid Service stands out for its exceptional ability to seamlessly integrate into the broader spectrum of a Veteran's healthcare journey. They serve as indispensable partners, working with each Veteran, their healthcare providers, and the appropriate suppliers to enhance accessibility and mobility. These dedicated professionals ensure that our Veterans have the essential devices needed to improve their overall well-being and quality of life within the comforts of their homes.

To truly appreciate the profound impact that the Prosthetic and Sensory Aid Service has on our Veterans, consider this remarkable statistic: In fiscal year 2024, more than 50% of the Veterans treated across the VHA received an astounding 4.1 million prosthetic devices, items, and services. The reach of PSAS is truly remarkable, touching the lives of a significant portion of our Veteran healthcare population and significantly contributing to an improved quality of life.

These experts, representing various healthcare disciplines, employ a holistic approach beyond the provision of prosthetic limbs, braces, glasses, home oxygen, ramps, and various other services and materials. Their sole purpose is to empower our Veterans with the maximum ability to function, thrive, and live life to the fullest.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our Veterans and continued support of PSAS!
