National Physical Therapy Month

October is National Physical Therapy Month.

Each October, we take time to celebrate National Physical Therapy Month—a moment to recognize the extraordinary dedication of our Physical Therapists (PTs) and Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs) across VA.

This year’s theme, PT for Future Me – Physical Therapy in Optimizing Movement and Function at Any Age,” highlights how physical therapy empowers Veterans to restore mobility, build strength, and reclaim independence at every stage of life.

Our PT professionals are leading the way with innovative approaches that expand access to care and improve quality of life for Veterans in both rural and urban communities. Their contributions include:

  • Embedding physical therapy directly into primary care settings.
  • Expanding pelvic health expertise to better support Women Veterans.
  • Embracing new tools such as virtual care, virtual reality, and clinical resource hubs.
  • Delivering whole-person care through interdisciplinary pain teams using the biopsychosocial model.
  • Advancing cutting-edge rehabilitation, including virtual reality and osseointegration therapies.

To see these innovations in action, visit the PT Marketplace for more insights into their incredible work. (internal to VA) Physical Therapy Marketplace - Home (sharepoint.com)

This month, let’s show our gratitude to the PTs and PTAs whose expertise and compassion help Veterans live healthier, more active lives. Their service reflects our deepest values—caring for those who have served.
